Mirrianne Mahn is a German-Cameroonian author, curator, theatre maker, and public speaker based in Frankfurt, Germany. Her acclaimed debut novel ISSA (Rowohlt, 2024) spans more than a century across four generations of women, weaving together stories of colonialism, migration, resistance, and sisterhood between Cameroon and Germany. The novel was shortlisted for the lit.COLOGNE Debut Prize as well as for the BücherFrauen Literature Award, establishing Mahn as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary German literature. Across her literary work, Mahn explores questions of memory, belonging, identity, and social justice through an intersectional lens. Her writing gives space to voices that have long been marginalized and invites readers to reconsider whose stories are remembered and whose futures are imagined. Alongside her work as a novelist, Mahn curates the upcoming exhibition Pop Culture at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin and regularly lectures and leads workshops at literary festivals, universities, and cultural institutions across Europe and Africa. Her work bridges literature, political education, and cultural practice, creating spaces for dialogue, critical reflection, and collective imagination.
