Biography

Beatrice Lamwaka is an award-winning writer; she won the 2021 Janzi awards for outstanding fiction writer, was awarded by Uganda Registration Service Bureau for her literary contributions in 2018 and is a recipient of the 2011 Young Achievers Award. She was shortlisted for the 2015 Morland Writing Scholarship and the 2011 Caine Prize for African Writing and was a finalist for the 2009 South African PEN/Studzinski Literary Award. She serves on the board of PEN International and PEN Uganda,

Her collection of short stories, Butterfly Dreams and Other Stories, was republished in Tamil, recently.

Beyond his work in sustainability, Kenneth is a distinguished practitioner in Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) and Intellectual Property (IP) law. He chairs the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Committee of the East Africa Law Society and the ICT Cluster of the Uganda Law Society, and serves on the board of FITSPA—the umbrella body for fintechs in Uganda. He is a sought-after advisor on digital trade, fintech regulation, cybersecurity, data protection, and emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain. Kenneth also lectures intellectual property law at Uganda Christian University, contributing to the next generation of legal innovators navigating Africa’s digital transformation.
