Biography

Evelyn Amony is a Ugandan human rights advocate from northern Uganda. Abducted at age eleven, she spent nearly eleven and half years inside the Lord's Resistance Army before being freed in 2005. She later participated in the Juba Peace Talks. Her memoir I Am Evelyn Amony: Reclaiming My Life from the Lord's Resistance Army (University of Wisconsin Press, 2015) offers a firsthand account of life inside the LRA. She chairs the Women's Advocacy Network in Gulu.
